  • How many students are in a class?
We make sure to keep our classes small, so everyone gets the attention they deserve. The most we'll teach is six students at a time, this way everyone has their own bar station to work at.
  • Why should I choose to enroll at Prestige Bartender Academy?
Prestige Bartender Academy prides itself of producing quality bartenders. When you enroll at Prestige, you will receive instructor-led, hands-on training in addition to essential resources, certifications, and experience. Included in your tuition is a starter bartending kit, members-only training app, state certification, and an internship to get real world experience, to name a few. No other school can compare to a Prestige education!
  • Do I need to go to bartending school?
Honestly, not all bartending schools are built the same and jobs often don’t require their bartenders to graduate or attend bartending schools. Most bartending schools only provide a space for students to practice. However, our instructor-led, hands-on training elevates your skills to compete confidently, even against seasoned bartenders. The bars hiring our graduates are consistently amazed by their expertise and professionalism, setting them apart from the rest.
  • Are there any age requirements for taking the bartending course?
Students are required to be at least 20.5 years old to enroll in our program, guaranteeing that they possess up-to-date training when they begin their careers as bartenders.
  • Are courses available online and/or in-person?
Our classes are all face-to-face, exclusive at our facilities downtown Covina. But hey, we're also looking into making them available online soon to provide greater flexibility for our students.
  • Are classes available in other languages?
At this time, all our classes are taught in English. However, you are still welcome to enroll if you feel comfortable with the level of English required for the course.
  • Do I need to sign up for the morning or evening class specifically, or can I just drop into whichever one works for me that day?
When you enroll, you must choose between attending the morning session OR evening session. As we limit the number of students in a class, there may not be space for you in the other session, but your seat is guaranteed in the session you enrolled in. However, if something comes up and you can't attend your usual time, feel free to ask our team if there's an opening in the other session.
  • Do you offer any discounts?
Yes, we do! We offer a military discount to show our appreciation to service members. We also give a discount for group enrollments if you sign up with someone else.
  • Do you offer payment plans for the bartending course?
Yes, we do! Payment plans are offered through PayPal through two options. PayPal’s Pay in 4 offers interest-free, bi-weekly payments made over four installments. Their Pay Monthly option offers 6, 12, or 24 month payment plans, with $0 down. Interest varies based on your credit score and length of payment plan. • I RSVP’d for a session. What’s next?
Once you RSVP for a session, you will immediately receive an email with a link to our online payment portal where you can choose to pay in full or sign up for a payment plan. • Can I tour the facilities before enrolling?
We invite you to visit our training facilities where you can observe students practicing in an environment designed to resemble an actual bar and have the opportunity to speak with a member of our administrative team for any questions you might have. Call, text, or email us at any time to set up an appointment to tour our facilities.
  • If I RSVP for a session, does that guarantee me a seat in the class?
Our policy is to guarantee seats for those who pay for the course in advance. While it's possible to pay tuition any time before classes begin, we recommend making payment as early as possible to ensure your spot is secured.
  • How many training hours do I need to complete?
Students will put in 20 hours of class time and should also plan to do around 20 hours of practice at our facilities before they attempt their knowledge and skill exams.
  • If we’re not making drinks with alcohol, how do I know if I’m making it right?
Just as you follow a recipe to make a cake or a new dish, in bartending school, we follow recipes and measurements to make drinks. We also teach students about the different flavors of the drinks we make, so they understand how they taste. Our recipes are a starting point for making drinks, but we encourage students to add their own special touches to make each drink their own.
  • How often are classes offered, and what is the attendance policy?
We have a new bartending class start every two weeks. Students must commit to attending courses Monday through Friday during those two weeks. We encourage students not to miss any course as each lesson builds upon the previous one. When you enroll, you have the option to sign up for our 11am-1pm session or 6pm-8pm session. We allow students to miss one class at the most and provide a free make-up lesson.
  • How long does it take to complete the bartending course?
The bartending course itself is two-weeks long. Courses are held Monday through Friday over those two weeks. Students have a total of six months to practice at our facilities, as well as complete their internship, state certification exam, and the knowledge and skills test at Prestige.
  • Do I get to make real alcoholic drinks during the course?
We use colored water to practice making drinks to ensure a worry-free learning experience. This means you can perfect your skills and create cocktails as many times as you like, without any concern about wasting precious alcohol!
  • What will I learn during the bartending course?
The bartending course includes ten sessions that will cover an introduction to bartending, learning numerous drinks, how to build a bartending resume, and customer service. Check out our Bartending Course page for more details.
  • Do I need to buy or bring anything to class?
Don't worry about a thing, we've got you covered! We'll give you everything you need, including a bartending book, members-only training app, and a starter bartending kit, so you can practice making drinks at home too!
  • When can I come in and practice once I finish the class?
Students are welcome to come in and practice any time Monday through Friday between 1pm and 6pm. Check with our staff to see if there may be opportunities to practice during the times classes are held in the event space is available. Opportunities may also be available to practice on Saturdays by appointment only.
  • Do I receive my bartender’s license when I complete the course?
Often referred to as a bartender’s license, the state of California requires that all bartender and alcohol servers possess an ABC Alcohol Server Certification. Included in your tuition, students receive responsible beverage service training that is recognized by the state, as well as support for taking the certification exam. You can schedule to take this training any time after you take the bartending course.
  • Do I graduate after the two-week course?
To graduate, students must complete the two-week course in addition to our knowledge and skills test. These tests ensure that Prestige graduates have met the standards of speed, accuracy, and customer service. Students have up to six months to continue their training and pass the Prestige tests.
  • Will I be tested on the things I learn during the course?
To receive a certification of completion, students are required to complete the two-week course and two exams. The first exam is a written test on topics covered in the course from their bartending book. The second exam is a speed test where students are behind the bar and are expected to accurately make twelve drinks in six minutes. We recommend completing practice hours before taking the exams.
  • Is my certification accepted in other states, or is it just good in California?
The knowledge and skills you learn in the class go with you anywhere! However, the ABC Alcohol Server Certification is only valid in California. If you're bartending in other states, you might need to obtain state-specific certification depending on the legal requirements and regulations of that state.
  • When do I get to do the internship?
Once you finish your two-week bartending course, obtain your ABC Alcohol Server Certification, and complete 20 hours of training, you'll be eligible to start an internship.
  • How much do bartender’s make?
According to Indeed.com, bartenders make an average of $19/hour within the Los Angeles region, excluding tips. Glassdoor.com lists the yearly salary for a bartender to range from $68k-130k per year!

Internships are unpaid and specifically intended to give students real-world experience and are considered an extension of the course learning experience. However, any tips made by students during their internship are theirs to keep!
  • Do you offer job placement after taking the bartending course?
We assist students with creating their bartending resumes as part of the course. Additionally, we provide students with job leads as they become available and are a fit with a student’s preference for bartending location.
  • Are you able to assist me in creating a resume?
Absolutely! We're all about making sure our students are ready to hit the ground running when they look for their first bartending gig. Our course includes a special session on nailing interviews and putting together a solid resume. Feel free to share your resume with us once you've put it together, and we'll be happy to review it and give you feedback.
  • What will I be doing during the internship?
The internship is all about giving students some real, hands-on experience. You’ll be putting into practice all that you have been taught at Prestige, plus learn some additional skills and knowledge that can only be taught at a real bar. During the internship, an experienced bartender will be with you to guide and answer any questions you may have.
  • Where does the internship take place?
Internships typically take place at a bar or at a mobile bartending event. Students get placed based on availability and their preference. Once completed, students are encouraged for adding the internship to their bartending resumes!
